Painting - Victorian street scene "Urban Grime"

An oil painting based on an old photograph of the Gallowgate area in Glasgow dated 1868, "Urban Grime" depicts soot-stained block built buildings of a style typical of the era.

The sunny weather shows the contrast between the common misperception of that age being grey and drab; it wasn't - many people only automatically unconsciously think that because of early photography being in black and white... in reality, the lighting and colours back then were no different from today...  

Painted between 5th March 2024 and 18th August 2024, this picture measures 35 x 50 cm ( just under 14 x 20 inches ) and with the frame measures 41 x 56 cm ( just over 16 x 22 inches ).
